Kuraray has announced it will build a PVOH plant in the US which it expects to be operational by 2015.

Kuraray America said effective 1 April 2013 the PVOH BU business will be added to the portfolio and include polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and TROSIFOL PVB films.

The firm, which recently purchased dissolvable packaging producer MonoSol, said the plant in Texas will be completed in 2014 with commercialisation in 2015.

Bob Chvala will become the vice president and general manager of the PVOH BU and Scott Landon will become the PVOH plant manager.
