The firm, which provides packaging solutions for a number of sectors including food, has been focussing in recent years on extending its line solutions to meet food sector customer demands for a “one stop shop.”

Italy-based Risco, which has more than 40 years of food industry experience, boasts a portfolio that includes a wide range of sausage vacuum fillers and meat preparation lines such as grinders and paddle mixers.

Multivac UK believes the agreement with Risco will further its ability to deliver “a truly complete line solution.”

One stop shop

“Multivac has been providing complete packaging line solutions for several years including the end of line equipment downstream of the packaging machine but customers are often looking for a one stop shop for a complete line solution hence the logical extension upstream of our tray-sealers and thermo-formers,”
Multivac UK marketing manager, Andrew Stark told FoodProductionDaily.com.

“Risco is a good strategic fit. High quality equipment, innovative similar business culture, family owned and crucially customer focused.”

Multivac chose Risco from a wide range of potential partners, citing the firm’s existing reputation for making high quality equipment and its pre-existing overseas relationship with the Italian company.

“Yes [we have worked with Risco] across various European Markets including Portugal, Spain and others. Many Multivac customers in the UK are existing Risco Customers,”
said Stark.

A number of Multivac customers use Risco food processing technology, including systems for meat processing, baking and salad mixing.

Customer benefits

According to Stark, the announcement is great news for existing UK-based Risco customers, who will now benefit from access to Multivac’s 27 regionally-based UK field engineers.

They will gain “support from the UK’s leading packaging machinery provider for tray sealing and thermo-forming equipment into red meat and poultry – Multivac’s core markets in the UK,” said Stark.

Multivac’s and Risco’s UK-based customers are also likely to benefit from the partnership.

“The key benefit is the ability to have one company taking complete responsibility for a production line from upfront grinders and mixers through to fillers down through the packaging machine and quality assurance, down to pack stackers and case packing,”
Stark added.
