Nampak Plastics, a leading producer of plastic milk bottles, has unveiled a new recyclable 1.5l plastic milk bottle in the UK, as part of a joint project with Muller Wiseman Dairies.

The 1.5l version of Nampak's Infini bottle which took six months to develop, was created as a convenient option for consumers sekeking for more than one pint of milk but fewer than two pints. It is is said to contain 15% recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE).

According to the company, the new lightweight bottle meets its Infini design principles and weighs 26g similar to a standard 1l bottle. In addition, it also offers consumers a new choice between a 2 pint (1.136l) and 2l.

Nampak Plastics managing director Eric Collins said the bottle is the newest addition to the Infini range, to go alongside the other imperial and metric sizes.

"It's also the latest in the long line of exciting developments for Infini and there are many more to come," Collins added.

Recently, Nampak Plastics had created the lightest four-pint HDPE bottle at 32g and also introduced 30% rHDPE into a milk bottle.
