On August 6, 2013, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) published two updated food additive regulations: the List of Designated Additives, and the Standards for Use, which includes maximum use levels.

The International Food Additive Database has been updated to reflect the revised regulations. More information on Japan’s regulations can be found on MHLW’s Food Additive page.
