The British supermarket chain Morrisons was forced to raise broccoli prices during the last week of the year due to problems with its suppliers.

While other British chains set the price for a 330 gram broccoli unit at 2 pounds, Morrisons had no choice but to sell it for 2.50 pounds, making them the most expensive chain. It was however, not the only supermarket with prices higher than 2 pounds, as Co-op's broccoli also reached 2.30 pounds.

The situation is expected to normalise from the third week of January, as due to the high autumn temperatures, there are still shortages in supply.
