Trade grSPARoup SPAR had another successful fiscal year in Austria for 2013, continuing the multiple year positive development: an increase in turnover of 2.9% was made both at home and abroad, reports the German website Gabot.de. The total sales turnover in all company branches - food, sports and shopping centre - amounted to 12,94 billion Euro. Within the food branch in Austria the sales turnover was 5.8 billion Euro, an increase of 4.3%. This is clearly a larger turnover increase than average in the branch.

In Austria alone 1,000 new jobs were created in the past year, and another 1,000 were created abroad, which means the SPAR Austria Group now employs 77,000 people in total. In 2013 in Austria, 70 new SPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR locations were opened and over 100 shops were modernised. In total around 450 million Euro was invested in this.
