The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry will temporarily increase the export quota of round cabbage to ensure adequate supply and stabilize its prices in the local market in preparation for Chinese New Year.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, said the soaring prices of round cabbage was due to a surge in demand ahead of the celebration.

"The ministry will help to increase imported round cabbage by an additional quota of between 1,500 to 2,000 metric tons only for the Chinese New Year compared to 6,000 metric tons per month at present," he said.
