White cabbage growers are being forced to reduce their prices after increased supply, according to Fruit-Inform. As a result, they have decreased by 25-33% since the beginning of this week.

Now Ukrainian growers are offering their white cabbage at EUR 0.20-0.27/kg, depending on quality, while a week before prices often reached EUR 0.40/kg.

Growers connect the negative trend with rather moderate demand for white cabbage in the Ukrainian market. Wholesale companies and retail chains buy white cabbage in small volumes for their current sales in view of low demand shown by end consumers.

In addition, prices are under the influence of growing supply in the market, as some farms have managed to return to harvesting thanks to better weather conditions.

Meanwhile, despite a week-on-week decrease in white cabbage prices, they are still 5.3-6 times as high as registered in the same period of the previous season.
