China frozen blueberry producer hopes to enter overseas markets

"We are located in Lianyungang City of Jiangsu Province and we own a blueberry plantation with the total area of 400 hectares in the ecological production area located at 34.5 degrees latitude. We also work with local farmers who have, altogether, 700 hectares of blueberry plantations, among which around 20 are greenhouses. We also have a packaging plant of 10,000 m2," says Mrs Lei Gao from Jiangsu Wotian Holdings Group.

"Our fresh blueberries (65%), frozen ones (30%) and blueberry juice (5%) are sold with our own trademark of 'Blue Baby'. 80% of the products are sold through traditional sales channels to wholesale markets and supermarkets in first and second tier cities such as Beijing Wumei, Beijing Hualian, Chongqing Yonghui and Shenzhen Baiguoyuan, and the rest 20% on e-commerce platforms like Daily Youxian."

Overseas expansion
"Over the past years, the Wotian Group has gained a stable market share with our positive brand image and quality products. Currently, we are capable of exporting a total of 500 to 1,000 tons of frozen berries. To make better use of our production resources, we hope to expand our business to oversea markets while growing steadily in the domestic market. As part of our oversea expansion project, we will start to import blueberries from Chile from July. Also, we are looking for oversea partners to help us export to Western countries our products including frozen berries, concentrate juice, beverage, blueberry anthocyanins and blueberry health supplements. We hope to provide oversea consumers with the good taste of our products from China."
