Perspectives for the table grape sector are excellent. According to the American Ministry of Agriculture, imported demand worldwide will reach 2.8 million tons. Worldwide production for the 2016-2017 season is expected to reach 20.9 million tons.

The most important producing countries are still China with 10.2 million tons, India with 2.8 million tons and Turkey with 2.4 million tons. The EU as a whole will produce 1.7 million tons. The USA then follows with 1 million tons, then Brazil with 950,000 tons and, finally, Chile with 910,000 tons.

Worldwide imports will increase from 183,500 tons to 2.8 million tons as the largest importers will continue to increase their demand. China, for example, is the largest producer but also the biggest importer and they will continue to increase imports. Early estimates have suggested they will import 249,000 tons and the EU 608,000 tons.
