The competition in the current mango market is fierce. "This could be because the production season is currently at its peak. Plantation owners and traders bring their stock to the market in bulk. The overall supply volume continues to grow. Fortunately, consumer demand is growing as well. Even though the supply volume is huge, the price has been alright in recent days. Green mangoes cost around 5 yuan [0.75 USD] per 0.5 kg." This is according to Xiao Yu of Beijing Xinghui Rong Trade Co., Ltd.

"An overall survey of the traditional mango market before and after Chinese Spring Festival [February 5th, 2019], shows that retail conditions greatly diverge. Prior to Spring Festival, the demand for mangoes was not great in comparison with the demand for cherries. We only shipped 5 containers per day, and that was enough to satisfy market demand. Now, however, demand rapidly increased. We ship around 44 containers per day to satisfy market demand."

"The most popular mango in the current market is the Tainung mango. The reason that market demand for the Tainung mango is  strong is that the mango flavor is currently at its best. The Tainung mangoes from Sanya, Hainan, are particularly popular. They reached their optimum ripeness. Nectarines and cherries are also ripe and available on the market, but they've only just ripened and their flavor is not yet at its best."
