According to the company, the new bags are manufactured by Lombard The Paper People, and meet manufacturing standards of National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) classification.
These bags use NCOS certified carbon neutral paper, lowering 29 tons of CO2 emissions.
Commenting on the launch Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses chief executive officer Steve Plarre said that the company has achieved its goal of supporting sustainability, with the launch of new carbon neutral bags.
"This year, we are committed more than ever to our vision off doing business in an environmentally sustainable way for the benefit of our business and customers and, ultimately, the world in which we all live," added Plarre.
Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses produces and distributes desserts, birthday cakes, wedding cakes, and meat pies. It offers cheesecakes, Christmas cakes, Christmas mince tarts, Christmas puddings, donuts, éclairs, flourless cakes, hot cross buns, lamingtons, mother's day cakes, photo cakes, and savouries.
