Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday gave his Cabinet a long overdue facelift bringing in some young and new faces.

Tariq Anwar, a young leader from NCP (Nationalist Congress Party), has been given the role of minister of state for agriculture and food processing, in place of Harish Rawat, a Congress leader, who was earlier holding this portfolio.

Anwar, a close aide of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, was lucky to get this portfolio after the recommendation from his party boss.

Further, Anwar has replaced Agatha Sangama from his party as a minister belonging to NCP. Anwar is a two-time Rajya Sabha member. He has been a four-term member of Lok Sabha from Katihar in Bihar.

Speaking to FnB News, Anwar’s personal assistant, on the condition of anonymity, said, “It is too early to disclose the future plan. Once he will take the charge, the agenda for the future course of action will be known to all.”
