Op 17 September 2020, China announced 1,673 Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) for 187 pesticides. That was to the World Trade Organization as G/SPS/N/CHN/1172. The MRLs cover an assortment of horticultural products, oilseeds, and grains.

China didn't suggest a date for these levels' entry into force. The proposed MRLs won't become valid until China has revised its current National Safety Standard for Maximum Residue Limits in Foods (GB2763-2019). That came into effect on 15 February 2020.
