Vegetarian and vegan diets protect against cancer, compared with nonvegetarian diets, according to a new study published by the American Association for Cancer Research.Researchers analyzed 69,120 participants as part of the Adventist Health Study-2 and found that beyond the reduced risk for overall cancer, vegetarian and vegan diets significantly reduced the risk of gastrointestinal cancers (stomach, colon, pancreas, etc.) and female-specific cancers (breast, uterine, ovarian, etc.), respectively.
