US frozen poultry supplies, at 1.107 billion pounds Oct. 31, were down six percent from the previous…US frozen poultry supplies, at 1.107 billion pounds Oct. 31, were down six percent from the previous month and down slightly from a year earlier, according to the Cold Stirage Report of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Total stocks of chicken, at 648 million pounds, were off slightly from the previous month and down seven percent from 2011. Total pounds of turkey, at 454 million, were down 13% from September but up 12% from October 31, 2011.
Total red meat supplies in freezers, at 1.058 billion bounds were down 2 percent from the previous month but up 14 percent from last year. Beef poundage was down slightly from the previous month but up 2 percent from last year. Frozen pork supplies were down four percent from the previous month but up 24% from last year.
Frozen vegetable stocks, at 2.611 billion pounds, were up eight percent from last month and five percent from a year ago. Frozen potato supplies, at 1,167 billion pounds, were up four percent for the month and five percent for the year, Total frozen fruit stocks of 1.428 billion pounds were up 21 percent from September and eight percent from a year earlier.
