US fastfood chain Burger King has entered into a master franchise joint-venture agreement with BEBOCA Inc to form a new entity BK Centro America to accelerate its brand presence in the Central American market.

The joint venture is expected to acquire the rights for the 178 restaurants in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama gaining exclusive license to operate the brand in the said countries.

Commenting on the new venture Burger King Latin America president Jose Tomas stated that the new partnership would boost the growth of the brand leveraging the potential markets in the region.

The move follows the similar ventures in South Africa, Russia and China and in 2011 and later in Brazil.

Burger King currently operates 12,600 outlets across 83 countries.
