United States food and beverage giant PepsiCo Inc said Wednesday that it has formed a partnership with Burger King Corp. PepsiCo will be the exclusive supplier of soft drinks in more than 100 Burger King restaurants throughout China.

Starting from Jan 1, Burger King stores in China are providing a wide range of PepsiCo soft drinks, including Pepsi-Cola, 7UP, Mirinda and Tropicana.

This is the first time the two giants cooperate in China. The two companies have a business relationship in other markets, such as in the US, Latin America, Russia and Turkey, said PepsiCo.

"There's huge potential to be tapped in China's food and beverage market. We are excited that PepsiCo and Burger King Corp are now joining hands and drawing on each other's strengths in pursuit of win-win cooperation," said Wah-Hui Chu, chairman of PepsiCo Beverages.

Burger King opened its first store in Shanghai in 2005.
