Riso Gallo has launRiso Galloched Venere Expresso, its first black rice in a pouch.

It’s named after Venus – the Roman goddess of love – because of the purported aphrodisiac qualities.

Unique in the market it is initially launching in Tesco in 250 gram pouches and its 500 gram catering packs are to be used in Italian restaurant chain Zizzi.

Riso Gallo Venere Expresso cooks in just two minutes, either in a microwave or pan and is ideal with fish and shellfish.

Riso Gallo Venere Expresso retails at £2.29, and is available in Tesco stores across the UK from next week.

Jason Morrison, MD Gallo UK, said:

“We are very excited about the launch of this product which is not only uniquely tasty but also appeals to the health conscious because whilst brown rice is good for you black rice is even better! It’s naturally high in magnesium, phosphorus and fibre”.
