The meeting was also intended to attract investors and facilitate the signing of agreements. There were 39 foreign companies and industry organizations at the summit meeting. More than a thousand domestic purchasing traders signed agreements for investment in the chili pepper industry. There were 2 cooperation agreements, 3 marketing and sales agreements, 23 projects, and investments worth 7.1 billion yuan [1.04 billion USD]. 11 projects were directly related to chili peppers and their investments reached 5 billion yuan [730 million USD].
The overall surface area devoted to chili pepper plantation in Guizhou reached 329 thousand hectares with an annual production volume of 5.43 million tons worth 15.2 billion yuan [2.2 billion USD]. There are nearly 200 processing companies that produce more than 50 chili pepper related products. The chili pepper processing industry is worth more than 10 billion yuan [1.46 billion USD]. Chili peppers are already the number one vegetable in Guizhou in terms of surface area and production volume. Chili peppers accounted for 28.7% of the surface area devoted to vegetable plantation in Guizhou, as well as 25.9% of the production volume of vegetables in Guizhou.
