The Indian Flexible Packaging and Folding Carton Manufacturers Association (IFCA) will organise a presentation titled Technology Promotion Through International Exhibitions and Conferences in the conference hall of Mumbai's Matunga Gymkhana on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

The presentations will be made by visiting experts, who will share a review of the global packaging industry and highlights on five major international expositions pertaining to food, pharmaceutical, personal care, cosmetics, nutraceutical, package conversion and printing and food safety.

The theme of the Centrexpo and IPACK-IMA Group industry and press meeting slated to take place on February 19, 2013, is the role of European economy in the processing, packaging and converting industries. It will feature case studies and be followed by dinner and cocktails.

P V Narayanan is IFCA's chief executive and IPMMI's secretary general. Both IFCA and IPMMI will also be represented at the event by their respective presidents, Suresh Gupta and S S Cooper. IPACK-IMA Group's representatives are Guido Corbella, CEO, Centrexpo and Lucia Lamonarca, R&D manager, Centrexpo and IPACK-IMA Group.

IFCA and the Institute of Packaging Machinery Manufacturers of India (IPMMI) are associated with IPACK-IMA, Milano, Italy to promote technology promotion expositions and conferences in the following fields:

• Pharmaceuticals, personal care and nutraceuticals (Pharmintech, April 17-19, 2013, Bologna, Italy)

• Converting, packaging printing and labelling (Converflex, May 7-11, 2013, Fieramilano-Rho, Milano, Italy)

• Post-harvest, processing, packaging, logistics, preservation and distribution (Fruitech Innovation 2013, November 26-28, 2013, Fieramilanocity, Milano, Italy)

• Processing and packaging – agro, pharma and other strategic sectors (East AfricaPack 2014, September 17-20, 2014, Kenyatta International Centre, Nairobi, Kenya)

• Processing, packaging and material handling (IPACK IMA 2015, May 19-23, 2015, Fieramilano-Rho, Milano, Italy)

Participants from various countries will share the latest developments and new technologies in packaging materials and package forms, packaging machinery and systems, processing technologies, ancillary materials and equipment, supply chain and material handling.

Fresh produce (namely fruit and vegetables and processed foods) are among the sectors likely to be represented.

The events slated to take place in India in June 2013 (Food Safety-International Conference) and Nairobi, Kenya between September 9 and 12, 2014, will be organised in association with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). Their objective is to address the key challenges of the food sector, with specific reference to food safety.
