In the first seven months of 2015, Russian fruit and vegetable imports from Turkey amounted to 709.7 thousand tonnes, compared to 686.2 thousand tonnes in the same period a year ago, and about 601 thousand tonnes two years ago, informs FAMMU/FAPA based on data from Factsheet Russia.

Throughout 2014, the Russian import of Turkish fruit and vegetables reached 1.38 million tonnes, compared to 1.16 million tonnes in 2013. Of the 709 thousand tonnes exported in the period lasting from January to the end of July, about 325.4 thousand tonnes correspond to fruit and the remaining 384.3 thousand tonnes to vegetables.

Tomatoes were the most exported product by Turkey to Russia, with a total of 291.4 thousand tonnes; they also shipped almost 70 thousand tonnes of lemons, nearly 65 thousand tonnes of mandarins, over 43.0 thousand tonnes of oranges and 38 thousand tonnes of onions.

In total, during the first seven months of 2015, Turkey took second place among the largest suppliers of horticultural products to the Russian market, only behind Ecuador.
