Russian consumer protection and phytosanitary control authorities have prevented the import of approximately 1,000 tonnes of goods affected by the embargo, according to a statement quoted by TASS and BTA.

Between September 2014 and September 2015, 404.8 tonnes of goods were destroyed and another 777 tonnes were returned to Kazakhstan, Belarus and other countries. Their exporters were imposed fines amounting to slightly more than 4 million Rouble (about 61 thousand U.S. dollars).

Losses for the EU during the first year of the Russian food embargo amounted to 5.2 billion Euro and compensations for those affected have been deemed insufficient, according to European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan. In September, the European Commission decided to allocate € 500 million to compensate the victims of this agricultural crisis.
