A new generation machine for the automated sorting of fruit and vegetables has been launched by the Radom-based company Sorter.

The project was implemented with support from the European Union, with investment totalling nearly 18 million złoty (4.25 million Euro), of which 6.2 million złoty corresponded to EU funds.

Edgar Klusa, from the company's marketing department, said the machine will be bringing fruit sorting to a new generation. He also stressed that it can be used for the sorting of apples, citrus fruit and spherical vegetables.

According to Klusa, the sorting machine will have a significant impact on improving the quality of delicate fruit sorting by minimising bruising. The device also uses a high-performance system to carry out simultaneous measurements of qualities such as size and colour, and allows for a more accurate sorting of fruit depending on weight.

After five years in the business, Sorter already has its own sales representatives in Turkey, Romania, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
