Heavy rain coupled with lack of arrangements by the authorities at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) played a spoilsport for Indo-Pak trade as various commodities, especially the onions imported from Afghanistan were damaged by the rain water.

The traders were upset due to this and they even complained with the authorities, alleging that the lack of arrangements has left the perishable commodities, including onions and dry dates, damaged.

One could spot, onions being unloaded in the open and rain water spoiling it. If traders were to be believed, the heavy rain had spoiled 20 to 30 truck loads onions.

City waterlogged

Amritsar, which is seen as the future 'Smart City' by the Government was left inundated by the first heavy rain on Tuesday.

There was not even a single road of Amritsar which was not affected by the heavy rainfall. Leave aside the traditional areas, even the posh areas and newly constructed roads were left in a bad shape.

Due to the heavy rain, people not only had to force through the waters but also faced major traffic chaos.
