As reported from the Regional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor on the 22nd September to an IA Regnum correspondent, a shipment of cabbage weighing more than 19 tons has been allocated for delivery to Poland.

The day before the supervisory body drew up the phytosanitary certificate for the vegetables.

"This is the first case of exporting fruits and vegetables grown by Kaliningrad agricultural producers,” - reported the ministry. “The exported cabbage was grown in the territory of the Russian exclave in one of the farms of the Guryev region."

In addition to vegetable production, through the phytosanitary quarantine posts pass export cargoes of soybean, grain, peat, wood, animal feed, fish, flower, and other products.

"In all cases, the origin and safety of the exported products are confirmed with the accompanying phytosanitary and veterinary certificates,” - concluded the Regional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor.

In the regional Ministry of Agriculture a Regnum correspondent clarified that the cabbage was grown by Alex Martemyanov in Guryevsky District. His family have been growing vegetables and grain for over 10 years. Cabbage is one of the key crops. This year the sown area of the farm amounted to 50 hectares. To the present day, the farmer has harvested about 200 tons of cabbage crop. 20 tons have been delivered to the European market. Martemyanov added that a surplus of middle sized cabbage was sent.

According to the supplier, Kaliningrad cabbage including delivery, turned out to be twice as cheap as the Polish product.

According to the region's Ministry of Agriculture, this year's crop area under cabbage exceeds 300 hectares. The most crops are planted in the Guryevsky District.

This year, the region has significantly increased the production of vegetables and potatoes. The area under field vegetables increased by more than 276 hectares and amounted to about 800 hectares. At the same time, farmers have substantially broadened the range of farmed products. Potato crops cover more than 3,000 hectares, which is 850 hectares more than last year.
