Spain has broken a new record in the 2014/2015 pepper export campaign, according to data from the statistical service Estacom (Icex-Tax Agency), with TARIC (Tariff Integrated of the European Communities) codes.

The total volume of peppers exported by Spain in the latest campaign was of 664.53 million kilos; 44.61 percent more than a decade ago and the highest figure in history in a single campaign.

The value of these exports also broke a new record. Spain's turnover from the sale of peppers reached 795.76 million Euro, which is 82.60 percent more than ten years ago.

Provinces
Almeria, which is the province exporting the most, shipped the largest volume of peppers in history, reaching a total of 471.03 million kilos, which is 70.88 percent of Spain's total pepper exports. This figure is 59.8 percent greater than ten years ago.

The value of Almeria's pepper exports stood at 530.81 million Euro, which is the highest turnover in history. Over the past decade, the income generated by Almeria from the sale of peppers overseas has increased by 59.8 percent. The average price of peppers exported from Almeria was of 1.13 Euro per kilo.

The second largest exporter in Spain was Murcia, which shipped 80.06 million kilos of peppers; 12.04 percent of the total exported by Spain. The export value of Murcia's peppers reached 102.58 million Euro and the average price was of 1.28 Euro per kilo.

Valencia is third, with 35.56 million kilos, 53.05 million Euro and an average price of 1.45 Euro per kilo. The share of Valencia in Spain's exports has been of 5.5 percent.

Countries
Once again, Germany is the largest customer of Spanish peppers, with 230.64 million kilos imported.

The second place is for the United Kingdom, with a total of 98.82 million kilos, followed by France, with 69.45, Poland, with 58.46 and the Netherlands, with 54.37 million kilos.
