NeoMedia Technologies, a provider of mobile barcode solutions, has announced that it has granted Kraft Foods a worldwide, non-exclusive license to NeoMedia’s patents related to mobile barcode resolution.

Kraft Foods has also chosen NeoMedia as an approved vendor for mobile barcode management solutions.

With this move, Kraft Foods will seek to leverage NeoMedia's IP portfolio to support its mobile initiatives. NeoMedia's IP portfolio includes several patents that feature mobile barcode implementations used widely across the industry. Till date, NeoMedia has about 74 patents awarded and pending worldwide.

Kraft corporate affairs senior director Renee Zahery employing emerging technologies popular with consumers is important in today's marketplace.

NeoMedia chief executive officer Laura Marriott said that consumer brands continue to choose barcode technology as an effective way to engage with consumers.

"We welcome Kraft as NeoMedia's first brand licensee as we continue to grow our IP portfolio and strengthen our overall presence in the market," Marriott added.

NeoMedia Technologies offers 2D mobile barcode technology and infrastructure solutions that enable the mobile barcode ecosystem worldwide.
