Due to an increasing demand for organic products, the global mushroom market is expected to grow by 2018 and farmers from across the world have started accepting mushroom cultivation as one of the more profitable businesses.

Some of the factors contributing to the expansion of the mushroom market are the development of high-yield systems, increasing demand saturation, changing customer preference towards value-added products and rising power of supermarkets. However there are restrictions which could slow the growth of the global mushroom market such as the short shelf life of mushroom foods and the use of unsafe ingredients or preservatives.

Mushrooms are nutritional and this is gaining them popularity from all over the world and the increase in research and development activities and innovation in mushroom cultivation will further help the global mushroom market develop.
