Superior Farms Pet Provisions has announced a new and exclusive partnership that extends their product offerings online and at retail. A new range of pet supplements manufactured by New Zealand company Biophive will hit the digital “shelves” this week.

The products are made from venison antler velvet and the green-lipped mussel, native to New Zealand waters.

"The homeopathic formulations have been used in ancient Eastern medicine for 2000 years," said Hugh Signal, Biophive president. "The basic idea for us was that we manufacture these products every day for human use and we had the idea for a pet application - and we applied traditional Chinese medicinal use of each of the ingredients and combined it with some more modern NZ ingredients."

According to Signal, the recipes are based off of ancient formulations for health found on a silk scroll that was dug up in China that was from approximately 168 BC. Deer antlers are unique in that they are a regenerative tissue - one of the very few that can be found in mammals. It is well known within Chinese medicine to have restorative powers for joints, arthritis and overall injury recovery. The green-lipped mussel has a high glycosimine index and are high in omega threes and sixes.

"This is a great addition to our range of lamb and venison treats and chews that are all naturally sourced from our own herds, both in New Zealand and the U.S.," said Gary Pfeiffer, President of Superior Farms Pet Provisions. "We believe in providing the very best, safe products. Humans have had great success with supplements throughout the years, and so should pets."
