 At the moment, the international banana market is characterised by stability in sales and exports, although companies expected higher prices for this time of the year. There is a high production, but due to the increasing competition in the sector, companies have been forced to sell at lower prices. Incolfruta is a company devoted to the production and sale of bananas. It is a young firm that was created to meet the need of medium and small customers to be able to contact fruit producers directly, as well as to help producers in gaining access to international markets with fair prices and security in payments and contracts.

Leonardo Mejía said that his company "is absolutely dedicated to international trade through a network of producers, exporters and customers. We have managed to reach important markets. We use our own brand and also those of the producers if they have one, but we can also develop a new brand if the client requests it."

Mejía also explained that they have commercial allies in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, and that although their main export product is bananas, they also trade with other fruits. "The fact of having our headquarters in Colombia and commercial partners in other producing countries allows us to sell the best option in the market at any given time," he said.

Regarding the prospects for the next season, Mejía said that "despite the fact that last year's weather in Costa Rica and Central America led to an overall increase in sales in Ecuador, which gave a boost to the demand and caused prices to increase as never before, this year our priority is for prices and sales to remain stable."
