On October 16, 2018, the State Administration of Market Supervision issued the "Guidelines for the Naming of Health Foods (Draft for Comment)", and publicly solicited opinions from the public. The deadline for comments was November 16, 2018.

The “Guidelines for the Naming of Health Foods” proposed in the opinion draft is applicable to the registration and filing of health foods within the territory of the People's Republic of China. The contents include the basic principles of health food naming, the composition of health food names, the contents of health food names, the requirements for declaration and review of health food names, and appendices. The name of the health food product was further standardized.
