"At the moment the price is slightly on the rise. Here in the north the growers price is around 12 cents and the bale price around 15 cents. In the south you can add a few cents to this, but this is always the case due to the different transport costs," says Tjerk. He foresees a reasonably good market in the coming weeks. "The yields here in north vary between 40 and 80 tonnes. This is causing a divided atmosphere. The onion market has often been good in the first half of November and often collapses a little just after the start of December. I expect this to happen again this year. The quality is good, but not standard good. There are quite a few parties with potential shortcomings and expect them to deteriorate soon. You need to keep an eye out!"
