UK retail: Spanish tomatoes more expensive than Dutch

According to the latest data provided by market intelligence service ProduceView, Spanish cucumbers are currently only offered by M&S and Lidl. Morrisons, Aldi and the Co-op are offering Dutch cucumbers this week.
Retail pricing of the cucumbers remains stable; from as low as 49p for a cucumber at Lidl and Aldi to as much as 59p for a cucumber at Co-op.
British green peppers
The first British green peppers arrived last week at Sainsbury's for a price of 50p. Asda and Tesco offered Dutch peppers for respectively 50p and 60p, while Morrisons and M&S offer Spanish green peppers for respectively 50p and 60p.
Expensive Spanish tomatoes
Spain and the Canary Islands are also important suppliers of tomatoes to Sainsbury's, the Co-op and Waitrose. Asda and Morrisons offered Dutch tomatoes, which were also the lowest in price (2£/KG at Asda and 1.91£/KG at Morrisons). The most expensive tomatoes were the Spanish ones at Waitrose, sold at 2.35£/KG.
