"As one of the four major production areas for apples in China, the Sanmenxia region in Henan Province is a place with a great natural environment for the growth of apples. Compared to last year, the yields here this year are expected to increase by around 20%. Such an increase is the result of the good weather conditions throughout the year and also the slight expansion of the cultivation area," said Mr. Wang from Ganshan Chenfeng Fruit Ltd. in Sanmenxia, Henan.

"The supply here can last for a whole year. At the end of each June, the season starts with early ripening varieties like Gala and Starkrimison, followed by Qinguan and Fuji. The supply will last till the end of the next June. Compared to apples from Shanxi and Shandong, the purchase prices here are lower, but the quality is similar. As for the market price, compared to the per kilo price of 2.5 yuan for size 75, this year it is likely to rise by 30% to around 3 yuan. This is because of the good rainfall during the year and only rare, extreme weather."

"Our company is located at Xizhang Village in the Shanzhou District of Sanmenxia City, with an average altitude ranging from 850m to 1000m. There's a total cultivation area of 500,000 acres and our major variety is Fuji. Currently, our apples are sold directly to distributors and supermarkets across the country. In the future, we hope to work with oversea companies and export our apples so that foreign consumers can have a taste of the apples from Sanmenxia."
