As the Mexican organic mango season continues, with extremely unusual market conditions, such as fruit costs at a high not seen since 1991 and export volumes around 40 percent lower than in previous years, Crespo Organic pushes forward with the goal of building lasting sustainble programs with long time and new coming customers. As of last week things will be a little easier, as packing operations have moved into Crespo’s home packhouse in Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico, yielding complete control over their systems and operations back into the Crespo family hands. Empaque Don Jorge is now open.

Crespo organic mangoes will now be collected from current producing regions like Chiapas & Oaxaca, as well as new starting regions; like Michoacan and Nayarit and consolidated at Crespo’s massive packing facility, Empaque Don Jorge or EDJ as it is known in Crespo’s internal circle. EDJ has an output capacity of up to 14 truckloads per day and 6 new USDA hydrothermic treatment tanks. It’s the second largest mango packhouse in Mexico, and a short 11-14 hour journey to Crespo consolidation entry points of McAllen and Nogales.

This opening offers Crespo the ability to make better choices that benefit their customers. Expect more attractive price points, greater ease in filling specific size and varietal orders as well as volume orders, thanks to the EDJ opening. The upcoming Nayarit season only adds to the excitement, as the upcoming fruit is some of the cleanest fruit the industry has seen in a very long time.
