Yinshan honey peaches are a speciality of Wuxi, as the special climate and the quality of the volcanic soil makes the honey peaches fragrant, sweet and tender.

Due to this years rainfall and clouded weather, overall production has dropped 5 to 10%. The temperature is also lower than last year, so even though the fruit is ripe, the sugar content hasn't reached expectations.

The honey peaches on the market now are early-ripe varieties, tender and mildly sweet. The variety that ripens mid June will be richer in flavour and sweetness. These honey peaches are already fully-grown, so all they have to do now is become sweeter.

During the annual plucking ceremony on June 8, the first batch of early Yinshan honey peaches were sent out. Due to the particularly thin peel and sensitivity of the honey peaches, a new packaging material was issued to both guarantee fast delivery and protection of the fruit against bruising.
