FSA confirms high levels of Bacillus cereus in Koon Yick Wah Kee tofu

Koon Yick Wah KeeKoon Yick Wah Kee rose bean curd (tofu) and chilli bean curd (tofu), which were produced in China, are being recalled in the UK as the products were found to have high levels of Bacillus cereus, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

These products were distributed by the Dutch importer Liroy and bear a best before date of 30 December 2013.

The products being recalled are Koon Yick Wah Kee - Rose Bean Curd (Tofu) 454g, Koon Yick Wah Kee - Chilli Bean Curd (Tofu) 454g, bearing lot codes of 023424 and 023421 respectively.

FSA noted that the levels of the bacteria in the product may result in vomiting or diarrhea and advised customers to discard these affected products.

The products were initially recalled by Dutch importer Liroy on 20 December 2012 due to Bacillus cereus and yeasts contamination.
