Sulphites were not declared on the label of the implicated batches of Provitus marinated forest mushrooms. Between 20 and 70 mg/kg of sulphites has been detected in the specified batches of these three types of mushrooms. It is not yet known if other batches also contain undeclared sulphites.
The mushrooms may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic or intolerant to sulphur dioxide or sulphites. These products have been mported from Poland and have been sold in stores nationwide, mainly those selling Eastern European foods.
