Sainsbury's admit error made in Scottish salmon labeling

e packaging said the fish was sourced from sea water farms at locations around Skye, Lewis and Uist.However, the salmon sold in January and April was in fact farmed in Loch Fyne, a sea loch on the Argyll mainland.
Salmon and Trout Association Scotland complained to the Advertising Standards Authority and Trading Standards about the labelling.
The association said the details on the packaging had misled customers by giving them the wrong information about where the fish was farmed and the company involved.
It also accused other supermarket chains of being "vague and inadequate" with their information about farmed salmon.
Sainsbury's said it was "very proud" of its record on responsible sourcing of fish and said it was the country's largest retailer of RSPCA Freedom Food Salmon.
The supermarket said the fish involved in the packaging error had still met its standards.
A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, there has been an error in the information on the packaging of some our Taste the Difference salmon products in recent months.
"We are now resolving this and sincerely apologise to customers, who can be reassured that there has been no impact on our industry-leading sourcing standards."
