US-based establishment Lombardi Brothers Meats is recalling close to 26,975 pounds of tenderized steak and ground beef products as they may have been contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).



Produced from 12 June through 30 June this year, the recalled products with establishment number EST. 772 inside the USDA mark of inspection were distributed for hotel, restaurant and institutional use in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

The recall has been initiated after the products were tested positive for E. coli, during in-house sampling program.

This is classified as a Class I health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

Consumption of the products contaminated with E. coli may cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of the recalled products.
