Kazakhstan plans to start exporting wheat to Georgia and Iran, and plans to increase China's wheat exports to 1 million tons per year, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Agriculture Isayeva said at a government news conference on March 14.

Iraq said that Central Asia and Afghanistan are the traditional export markets of wheat from Kazakhstan, and their exports to China are also growing. In January this year, Kazakhstan and Iran signed a protocol on wheat exports, and are currently negotiating with Georgia on wheat exports. These two countries used to be important wheat export markets of Kazakhstan, which were interrupted for a time. Now it is necessary to restore them. In 2018, Kazakhstan's wheat exports to China tripled. Kazakhstan plans to increase wheat exports to 1 million tons per year in three years. It is currently negotiating with China on wheat import quotas from Kazakhstan.

Yi said that Kazakhstan had already achieved self-sufficiency in grain and flour. In 2018, the grain output of Kazakhstan reached 22.8 million tons. Besides meeting the domestic demand, some grain can be used for export. Last year, Kazakhstan exported 11.7 million tons of grain.
