Glanbia Nutritionals has announced the introduction of Hydrovon 195, as part of its portfolio of science-led sports nutrition ingredients. The partially hydrolysed whey protein isolate is designed for rapid absorption by the body, and it can therefore speed up post-athletic recovery while also eliminating the bitter taste common to this type of whey protein.

The product, while is designed to appeal to professional athletes and also sports enthusiasts, is rich in branched chain amino acids (BCAA’s) for post-work out lean muscle maintenance and accelerated muscle recovery and repair.

Post exercise recovery drinks are increasingly used by athletes and sports enthusiasts alike, business development manager David O’Leary told Food Ingredients First. The whey protein is available for use in high performance post workout ready-to-drink (RTD) or ready-to-mix (RTM) beverages, and can be blended with a range of flavors. “Hydrovon has a very clean taste and can be easily flavoured,” confirmed O’Leary.

“The days of accepting poor flavours from hydrolysed proteins are gone,” O’Leary explained. “Athletes want advanced nutritional products that combine high nutrient efficiency with good taste and texture. Our proprietary technology has eliminated the bitter taste resulting from amino acids and hydrolysed whey proteins, paving the way to a new concept of sports nutrition.

“Glanbia Nutritionals’ hydrolysed whey proteins represent next generation sports nutrition solutions and are an extremely attractive product to target the emerging market of multi-sport athletes.”

Glanbia Nutritionals, a division of Glanbia plc, is an innovator in the expert delivery of science-led ingredients and customised solutions for a broad range of industries. These include fortified foods and beverages, sports nutrition, and health & wellness.
