Tate & Lyle said on Thursday it plans to buy Chinese food ingredient company Winway Biotechnology Nantong Co Ltd, as the British firm expands its speciality fibre business.

The deal is expected to close later this year, subject to government approval.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
