During the last ten years, the global export of vegetables has multiplied by 1.79, going from 35,458.15 million euro in 2009 to 63,295.7 million in 2018, i.e. 78.51% more.

Since 2014, China has become the world's leading exporter of vegetables, displacing the Netherlands from that position, even though China came to exceed Dutch exports for the first time in 2010. In 2018, Chinese vegetable exports reached a value of 8,906.24 million euro, i.e. 155.94% more than the 3,479.82 million euro it achieved in 2009.

China is followed by the Netherlands. In 2018, the Netherlands vegetable exports amounted to 6,644.9 million euro, i.e. 56.03% more than the 4,258.67 million euro achieved in 2009.

Spain ranks third with revenues of 6,071.43 million euro in 2018, 52.86% more than the 3,971.81 million euro it obtained in 2009.
It is followed by Mexico, which has remained behind Spain for the past decade, except in 2016 when it slightly surpassed it. Mexican vegetable exports amounted to 5,978.25 million euro in 2018, i.e. 125.64% more than the 2,649.02 million euro it obtained in 2009.

These four countries' vegetable exports amount to 27,600.82 million euro, i.e. 43.6% of the total value of world vegetable exports.

The rest of the exporting countries are very distant from the first four, although we can highlight Poland, Morocco, and Turkey because of the competition they pose for Spain in the markets. Polish exports reached a value of 1,118.34 million euro in 2018, i.e. 75% more than the 637.68 million euro it achieved in 2009. Moroccan vegetable exports in 2018 amounted to 1,079.13 million euro, 153.65% more than the 425.43 million euro of 2009. Turkey's exports in 2018 totaled 919.39 million euro, 25.64% more than the 731.77 million euro of 2009.
