Over the years, the agency has focused hygiene, food origin requirements and storage conditions. During this summer, it plans to expand the checks to cooking oils. The inspectors will particularly focus on establishments along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.

Miroslav Naidenov said that a few catering establishments use one and the same cooking oil for several dishes.

"This has been proven by checks and analyses. Such a policy is absolutely unacceptable and poses risks for people's health," Naydenov added.

The agency also plans conduct check-ups of food products sold by hawkers at the country's beaches this summer.
