Döhler acquires Egyptian fruits and vegetables business

Technology-based natural ingredients company Döhler has acquired the fruit processing and flavour unit of Egyptian fruit and vegetable specialist Delta Aromatic (DELRO). According to Döhler, DELRO will play a major role as the production and service hub for the dynamic markets in Africa and the Middle East.

Delta Aromatic's business units “Fragrance” and “Agriculture” are not part of the acquisition agreement and will be operated as an independent company.

The name of the new company in Cairo will be “Döhler Egypt for the Production of Natural Fruit & Beverage Ingredients S.A.E.”.

Since its foundation 25 years ago, Döhler says that DELRO has become a key player in the region. The existing management of DELRO will remain on board and will lead the newly formed Döhler Egypt.

Döhler Egypt is the first Döhler production site on the African continent. Its portfolio of mango, white guava, strawberry, apricot and tomato completes the Döhler product portfolio perfectly, according to the company, with the premium quality of natural resources in Egypt, Döhler Egyptenabling the production of outstanding natural fruit concentrates, pulps and compounds of the highest standards.

Egypt´s membership of the free trade zones, COMESA for the Eastern and Southern African markets and GAFTA for the Arab market offers many additional advantages to customers. The acquisition of DELRO will increase Döhler’s proximity to customers in Africa and the Middle East, with its convenient geographical position in North Africa allowing Döhler Egypt to deliver to customers quickly and cost-effectively, both on the African continent and in the Middle East.
