AAK’s plant in Port Newark has been temporarily shut down since Monday due to the Hurricane Sandy. As a result of the severe weather conditions the plant has no supply of electricity and parts of the plant are flooded. No employees have been injured.

AAK’s initial assessment is that there is no major damage to the plant however production needs to be closed for a short period in order to restore the site. The company is working to limit the effects of the standstil and to resume full production as soon as possible.

Production at the Oasis Foods plant has also been temporarily interrupted since Monday as the plant has no supply of electricity. Minor parts of the site are water damaged. As soon as electricity has returned to the plant AAK expects production to be resumed within days. No employees have been injured.

AAK will conduct a thorough evaluation as soon as the authorities allows further access to the currently restricted area in Port Newark. The company expects to publish further information on the situation and on potential related costs when releasing the Q3 Interim report on November 7, 2012.
