IMCD Benelux have entered into a distribution agreement with Tate & Lyle Sugars, a leading refiner of cane sugars. This deal includes a portfolio of speciality cane sugar products such as Golden Syrup, Treacles and Fair Trade white sugars. The partnership is effective immediately and covers Benelux, Germany and Poland.

Nadine Depré, Business Unit Manager Food & Nutrition at IMCD Benelux, explains: “We are currently experiencing a growing demand for natural, sustainable and Fair Trade products. The shortage in chicory sugar volumes in the market pushed our customers into looking for alternatives and we can now meet this demand with Tate & Lyle Sugars.”

Especially for Fair Trade products, it is known that customers cannot find enough Fair Trade approved sugar. “This partnership will further enable IMCD to provide another range of natural products that can be used in clean label and Fair Trade products. Tate & Lyle Sugars high quality products and services allow us to bring new solutions to the market in the joint effort,” concludes Depré.

Tate & Lyle Sugars’ portfolio will enable IMCD to provide its customers in bakery, confectionary and savoury with sweetening and texturing solutions for clean label products.

The authentic Golden Syrups will help the bakery customers to enhance the flavour, moisture content, mouth feel of their products and to extend the shelf life.

The typical liquorice taste and dark colour of the Treacles range will give dark sauces, marinades, cereal bars and brownies their unique natural look.

Confectionary and bakery customers will finally be able to find a supply of white Fair Trade sugar for developing their Fair Trade products.

“IMCD’s European approach and the comprehensive market knowledge made an excellent fit with our business model. In addition, IMCD’s Food & Nutrition Technical Centre in Mechelen allows IMCD team to professionally serve the food and nutrition market. It also enables them to help their customers in their formulation work.

This was another argument that convinced us that IMCD is the right partner for us,” explains Robert Brown, Senior Sales Manager Specialty Ingredients at Tate & Lyle Sugars.
