IMCD signs agreement to acquire all activities of Indonesia’s Alam Subur

IMCD Group, a speciality chemicals and food ingredients company, has signed an agreement to acquire all activities of PT Alam Subur Tirta Kencana, a Jakarta-based food ingredients distributor.

With this acquisition Rotterdam-based IMCD Group also makes its entry into south-east Asia’s largest economy. Under the deal, IMCD will also acquire Alam Subur’s affiliated company PT Sapta Permata at Surabaya, Indonesia. As soon as all necessary approvals have been obtained, the transaction will close and all businesses of Alam Subur and Sapta Permata will come under PT IMCD Indonesia.

Eduard Utama, founder, Alam Subur, said: “We are delighted with our partnership with IMCD. This will enable us to grow further. We will benefit from sharing best practices and know-how and will be able to expand our product offering.”

With offices and warehouses in Jakarta, Alam Subur is a leading distributor and supplier for food and beverage ingredients. It also supplies nutraceutical & pharmaceutical ingredients.

Founded in 1999, the company currently employs about 100 employees, comprising sales and marketing, technical and administration teams. Sapta Permata was founded in 2002 and has 20 employees.

Albert Stevens, VP, Asia, IMCD Group, observed: “This is an important step in realisation of our strategy in the largest and fastest growing country of southeast Asia, where we foresee tremendous growth prospects. Alam Subur’s expertise and knowledge of a diverse and huge market like Indonesia will be an asset for our expansion strategy.”

Business partners of Alam Subur have been notified of the change and IMCD will ensure smooth business transition with no disturbance to Alam Subur’s current activities. All employees of Alam Subur will transfer to IMCD. Utama will continue to lead IMCD Indonesia.
